I visited an exhibition of British Still Life artists at Pallant House in Chichester in 2025 and loved a painting of mushrooms in the pantry by Walter Sickert that I saw for the first time there. I received mushrooms in my veg box the next day and felt motivated to paint them using a similar diagonal shelf composition to Mr Sickert's.
