There was an important William Nicholson exhibition at Pallant House in Chichester earlier this year. He surely is the godfather of still life painting to so many of us, and after seeing so much of his work in one place I had a spell of painting household items that I own which reminded me of his paintings. He often painted glassware with bold shadows and I so admire his generosity of paint and vigour.
